Young Dementia UK has launched their Young Onset Dementia Guidance for dementia advisors, support workers and healthcare professionals to assist them when they are supporting a younger person with dementia.
Over the last 12 months Young Dementia UK has been working with DEEP (Dementia Engagement and Empowerment Project) groups and Young Dementia Network members to create guidance for Dementia Support Workers / Dementia Advisors / Key workers who may not usually support an individual under the age of 65 years old affected by dementia. It is intended to guide discussion with the person with dementia and their families and should be used flexibly to adapt to individual needs and circumstances.
The aim is to offer support for these roles by way of prompts and suggestions on age-appropriate topics and themes for discussion and resources that are available.
