One of the most common causes of emotions and emotional responses in Dementia is Pain.

It could be a UTI, Constipation, an infection, a co-morbidity, pressure sore, the list could go on.

Pain is usually a sign that something is not right, our bodies way of telling us there is something wrong.

Under the medical model you are likely to be chemically restrained because you are having emotional responses leaving your pain undertreated.

Under the social model the causes of the pain would be investigated and treated reducing your emotional responses.
