I recently did some research online using the Zoom app looking at different versions of signs with Steve Milton from Innovations In Dementia CIC.
Well you may say reader that signs are signs but to a person living with Dementia the design of a sign can be important.
Take these 3 signs:
They may be clear to you but to me the blue one is clearer, with the black image on white affecting my eyes.
Another example is geometric patterns, they can appear to move and make my eyes go fuzzy
Putting text on a yellow background can help as with persons with poor eyesight also
The size and position of a sign can also be important.
There is so much research can learn for and from people living with Dementia and to help others understand the challenges we face.
This was a simple piece of research that took about an hour.
Thanks for this Howard. I’ve just put a link to this post at the end of my latest one on The Care Combine – ‘An Explosive Combination’.
