Taking part in a “AD Genetics” of Alzheimer’s study

Recently, my wife Sheila and I went to the Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield to take part in our first research study with Cardiff University School of Medicine.

We were greeted by Emily who took us through to join my Neurologist.

The study was explained to us and what it involved, that done I went to a separate room with Neurologist whilst Sheila went through a series of questionnaires with Emily.

I answered a series of questionnaires, anxiety, depression and MMSE test which took about 45 minutes. Once the test were over, I had several containers of blood taken for the study after which we were free to go home.

This was a study looking into genetic factors being a cause of Alzheimer’s
